13 Days in Ferguson examines the riots and aftermath following the 2014 police shooting of an unarmed young Black man, Michael Brown, in Ferguson, Missouri and its place in history ten years later.
Told through the lens of retired lead task force officer Captain Ron Johnson, he reunited with his longtime friend Cedric the Entertainer, he undertakes an emotional journey, walking the streets of Ferguson in remembrance of the shocking events that took place a decade ago.
Together, Capt. Johnson and Cedric recall how, in just a few hours, the confrontation between protesters and police escalated in a way that would grip the nation, turning it into a 24-hr news cycle circus, and leading to the National Guard being called in. Interviews with Michael Brown Sr., Ferguson residents, Capt. Johnson’s family, and activists offer frank, emotional, and reflective conversation of then and now. In the wake of the 10th anniversary, this documentary sheds light on the lessons learned, the progress made and the road ahead.
